Hi! Welcome to the story of us, Kate and Mel, and how we ended up starting

Let’s get Local, and living out our dreams.

We grew up in a small city on the East Coast, lived relatively close to each other, and knew a lot of the same people. Our lives were intertwined, and we didn’t even know it.

 

It took both of our spouses accepting job offers, and over 4000 km for us to finally meet and our friendship was instantaneous.

After spending time getting to know each other, we both saw how much we loved both gift giving, and supporting small businesses. Our interests aligned, and we began looking at local small businesses in Alberta, and going to markets to find gifts for family and friends.

We quickly became aware of how supportive Albertans were of the small business community, and just how much enormous talent lies within this province.

 

We wanted to buy everything from everyone! However, while looking for these gifts, it became apparent that finding multiple amazing small businesses in one spot would be challenging. We wanted locally made items from all over Alberta but couldn’t travel across the province to put a few gifts together so when we couldn’t find a solution, we created one.

Let’s get Local is an online gift box company that curates custom gifts as well as allows customers to create their own gift boxes.

 

Everything available in our shop is locally made in Alberta, Canada.
